How to distilize water at home. How to distilize water correctly
How to distill water at home: features and quality of water, methods of obtaining and checking.

Distilled water is ordinary water, purified from chemical elements and extraneous impurities. It is very in demand in different sectors of the national economy, so it is produced both in industry and at home.

Where you need distilled water

Distilled water is widely used for the manufacture of drugs, in industry and in everyday life.

Distilled water in automobile systems

  1. All car owners know that some systems of their cars cannot work without purified water. It is poured into automobile batteries, diluted antifreeze and fabric liquid.
  2. The battery works with a liquid composition, which consists of 35% of sulfuric acid and 65% of distilled water. Without dilution, sulfuric acid would simply corrode all the lead parts of the battery. Using water, salt concentration decreases to optimal.
  3. If you try to pour simple water into the battery, then chemical impurities will also negatively affect lead plates. Therefore, only distilled water is suitable for such purposes.
  4. Beginning drivers are often interested in how to determine that it is time to add distilled water to the battery. Since water is used for recharging, it will not be superfluous to add it immediately after complete charge.
  5. It is especially important not to allow the plates to be exposed to air. In this case, it is worth adding water before connecting the charger. In summer, water will have to be added more often due to its rapid evaporation, and in winter-less often.

Distilled water for home needs

  1. Distilled water is poured into irons, air humidifiers and steam generators. This contributes to the fact that the electrical appliance will last a long time, and a scale or other plaque will not appear on its details.
  2. Such water is suitable for home aquariums, watering indoor plants. Many people drink distilled water and use it for cooking.
  3. Is it useful to use distilled water by a person is a controversial issue. Previously, it was considered dead water, since it completely absent useful components.
  4. It is believed that filtered water is better suited for use. The filter will really cleanse it of harmful compounds, but will miss those substances that are necessary for humans.

How and where they get distilled water

You can clean water from all trace elements both industrial and at home, as well as use natural phenomena.

How the distillates do in industrial conditions

  1. In industrial conditions, water in special distillates. For this, different methods are used.
  2. The first method is based on water to a vaporous state, and then condensed. However, this method is very energy -consuming, so I had to look for more economical ways of water distillation.
  3. Now they are more inclined to obtain distilled water by membrane separation. This method allows you to improve the quality of the resulting product and reduce electricity consumption.

How to distilize water at home

It is not difficult to distill water at home, besides, you can make it useful. There are several ways to clean water at home, but before each of them you need to perform preparatory actions.

Water preparation

Before distillation, the water should be settled. To do this, we collect water into the container and leave for several hours without covering. During this time, chlorine and hydrogen sulfide will disappear, and metals will be at the bottom of the container. The more time the water defends, the cleaner it will be as a result.

How to get distilled water by evaporation

  1. For water distillation by evaporation, we will need the following devices:
  • enameled container or potted steel pan with a concave lid;
  • transparent glass container;
  • microwave grille.
  1. We pour the settled water into the pan, filling half the container. We install the grate on the bottom, put the glass bowl on top so that its edges protrude above the water level. In the process of boiling, the bottom of the bowl should remain empty.
  2. We put the entire structure on the gas and wait for the water to boil. Then we reduce the fire to a minimum, thus making the boiling process less intense. On the pan, lay the cover with a bulge down.
  3. On top of the lid we put ice pieces or install a container with water from the refrigerator. As a result of boiling, the steam will settle on the lid, and, as they accumulate, drain into the bowl.
  4. Thus, we figured out how to make distilled water at home by evaporation. After the glass container inside the pan is filled with distilled water, turn off the fire and leave the water until it cools completely in the pan.
  5. After that, carefully remove the bowl and pour distilled water into the sterile storage container.

How to distilize water at home with bottles

  1. To distill water in this way, we will need 2 bottles, one of which with a curved neck, and a stainless steel pan. If such a bottle is not available, then we will use the garden hose to connect two bottles, but the diameter of the hose should be suitable for the size of the neck of the bottles.
  2. All containers need to be sterilized, after which you can begin the process of water distillation. We fill the bottle with a crooked neck with prepared water half. We attach one bottle to another like communicating vessels using an adhesive tape.
  3. Fill the pan with water more than half. The water level in the pan and in the bottle should be the same. We put the pan on the gas so that the water boils, after which we place a bottle of water at 30 degrees there.
  4. On the second bottle you need to lay a package with ice to obtain condensate. Thus, the liquid in the form of steam enters from one bottle to another. We continue the process until we fill the second bottle.

How to prepare distilled water using a refrigeration unit

  1. By freezing water, you can even cleanse salt water from salt. In order for the process of freezing to carry out at home, we need a container - a can or a plastic bottle.
  2. We take the prepared container and pour the defended water into it. We send the container to the freezer. As soon as most of the liquid turns into ice, drain it with non -frozen water.
  3. It is the upper layer of water that contains most of the chemical compounds. As necessary, the ice is melt and use distilled water where we need.
  4. Melt water is considered very useful for human health. The process of freezing and defrosting water streamlines the structure of its molecule. Therefore, you can freeze even ready -made distilled water, and then defrost before use. The beneficial properties of defrosted water are preserved for about 8 hours.
  5. It is advised to take talus water for healing 30 minutes before meals or 2 hours after eating.

How to distilize water properly a household distiller

  1. To clean water at home, you can purchase a household distiller. It can have different dimensions and the cost, which ranges from hundreds to tens of thousands of hryvnias.
  2. For example, a household distiller BAISTRA BSC-WD11 in 1 hour cleans up to 1.5 liters of water water. He puts water boiling and passes through the coal filter, which needs to be changed regularly.
  3. It is no secret that household distillators are widely used for the production of moonshine, wine and other alcoholic beverages at home. If instead of Brahi there is pouring stirred water, then at the output we get distilled.

How to distill water with 2 pots and 1 kettle

  1. To prepare distilled water using ordinary kitchen utensils, we will need:
  • kettle;
  • pan with a volume of 3 l;
  • pan 6 liter pan.
  1. Please note that the dishes should be perfectly clean. In the defended water, we place the tube so that 1 its end is almost at the bottom. Gently tilting the container, drain the water through the tube. Thus, we will get rid of the lower layer of water, which most contains heavy metals and salts.
  2. We drain approximately 1/3 of the total mass of water. We have to boil the remaining water. Pour the prepared water into the kettle and put on the gas. Nearby we install a smaller pan into which we will collect distilled water. We place a large pan with chilled water on top.
  3. We move the kettle so that steam from the nose settles on the wall of the pan, quickly cool and dripped into the lower pan.
  4. After boiling water, we reduce the fire so that as few pair as possible to go into the air. Thus, in 30 minutes you can get 1 liter of distilled water. Water in the upper pan must be changed as it is heated to more chilled.

Distilled water from air conditioners

In such an unusual way, you can collect water for technical needs. In the heat per day, about 10 liters of no one needs water, which is distilled, leaves the air conditioner.

Distilled water in nature

  1. It is believed that rainwater or snow has already passed the process of distillation in a natural way. Even 100 years ago, it could really be considered purified, but now, especially in industrial cities, it may also contain chemical impurities.
  2. Nevertheless, many and now with pleasure accumulate rainwater. It is quite suitable for solving household issues and watering plants. You can drink rain water only in some countries with good ecology, where it is assembled and sold in plastic bottles.

Buying distilled water

Distilled water can be bought in pharmacies, in car shops and gas stations. In pharmacies it is sold in small volumes, so it turns out expensive. At gas stations, distilled water is most often sold in 5 liter bottles.

How to store distilled water

If distilled water is to be stored for a long time, then glass containers are best suited. For water that you are going to freeze and defrost, plastic is better, since glass can burst as a result of an increase in the volume of freezing water.

How to check distilled water for quality

There are several ways to check the qualitative characteristics of the distillate.

Checking in the laboratory

  1. Only the water that corresponds to GOST 6709-72 can be called distilled. It can have a different degree of purification depending on the scope of application for which it was processed.
  2. For example, a liquid for medical purposes should not contain pyrogenic substances, which include some organic compounds and bacteria.
  3. Check the quality of distilled water in the laboratory using potassium permanganate in an amount of more than 0.08 mg/dm³. Some chemical elements, provided that they are in water, are able to restore this connection of potassium.
  4. In this case, the qualitative characteristics of the distillate are considered insufficient, and the liquid needs another processing stage.

How to determine the quality of distilled water at home

  1. At home, you can check the level of impurities in distilled water using special devices.
  2. To determine stiffness, Solekter is often used, or in other words TDS meters. According to GOST 6702-72, the presence of salts in water that has undergone distillation should be no more than 5 mg/l.
  3. The chlorometer is used to determine the specific mass of the content of chloride compounds. According to GOST, this figure should be 0.02 mg/l.
  4. Acidity of water can be determined by a pH meter. For distilled water, this parameter should be about 5.4 to 6.6 mg/l.
  5. Specific electrical conductivity can be measured by a conductor. The normal value for distilled water is at 500.

Distilled water is an important source of energy that a person uses. Thanks to its use, you will extend the life of your technique, indoor plants, and support your health in normal condition.
